On a Positive Note (Audio CD)

Review & Description

Sun Voyage's music is invitingly different, yet refreshingly familiar. His debut album offers a wide range of mainstream songs showcasing him as a songwriter, lyricist, and performer with modern rock, power pop, dance, and easy listening. 2 of the songs were licensed for use on multiple major network U.S. TV stations for use in their broadcast programming before the record's official release in July 2011. Many other songs from the album have made the top 10 on major licensing websites among hundreds of thousands of other songs.

ARTISTCOMMENTS: Album was mastered by Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Black Eyed Peas, Alison Krauss, Evanescence, Sister Hazel, etc). 8 to 10 months months of intensive, systematic, global market testing was done on each song from this album using multiple resources, including websites that market test music for it's commercial viability with consumers, as well as sites that test in contrast to other professional song-writers. All songs have earned their place on this record.

Review & Description

Matt, a young glaciologist, soars across the vast, silent, icebound immensities of the South Pole as he recalls his love affair with Lisa. They meet at a mobbed rock concert in a vast music hall - London's Brixton Academy. They are in bed at night's end. Together, over a period of several months, they pursue a mutual sexual passion whose stages unfold in counterpoint to nine live-concert songs. Featuring nine live concert performances not available anywhere else by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Von Bondies, Elbow, Primal Scream, The Dandy Warhols, Super Furry Animals, Franz Ferdinand and Michael Nyman.
Maverick director Michael Winterbottom wondered about the double standard of why novels can have explicit sex scenes and be legit and films could not. So his short film of a relationship based solely on sex and a love for music is the result of that thought. If the definition of a porn film is to shoot actors performing graphic sex scenes for real, then 9 Songs qualifies. It certainly doesn't feel or look like your standard whoopdee-do XXX feature. It's as glossy and low-budget arty as Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People or I Want You. But yeah, Matt and Lisa do everything to each other, and the actors are not "just acting" in some of the sex scenes. No matter how landmark the movie might be, there is not much story here (at least a book with hot sex often has a good story to it). Lisa is an American drifter in London who hooks up with Matt, a scientist who studies glaciers in Antarctica. They have sex and visit nine rock concerts including Franz Ferdinand and The Dandy Warhols. As advertised, you can't find these musical performances anywhere else, but we just see them from way back in the crowd. The film has an essence of how someone can find bliss in another person's body, and the emotional, magical weight that can hold over you. But that spell doesn't last. Since the sex is real, Winterbottom had to cast unknown actors, and they really don't make an impression, especially with the lack of story. --Doug Thomas Read more

Review & Description

Second chances at love don't come very often, even for a vampire
who has eternity.

Kendra used to spend her days organizing events for Café
Enigma while daydreaming about Marcus, the sexy lead singer of Normal Paradox.
But all those dreams of becoming Mrs. Rock Star died, along with her mortality,
the moment Hector entered her life. He tricked her and seduced her into
becoming a vampire, stealing Kendra away from Marcus forever.

Ten torturous years later; however, Kendra finds a way to escape Hector and is
reunited with her lost love, Marcus. Now that she's found him she doesn't want
to let him go. But, whispered threats from Hector begin invading her dreams.
He's tracking her down, and she can feel it. He's a true monster, capable of
unspeakable horrors, and Kendra knows what he will do if he catches them.

She'll have to make a choice: stay and fight for the man she's always loved, or
protect him by leaving and keeping Marcus off of Hector's radar?

This novella is approximately 30k words or (120 printed pages). It
contains some offensive language but no sexual content. Suitable for

Praise for EXPERIENCED

“An entertaining compendium of rock ‘n’ roll tales, EXPERIENCED hits the mark as a rites of passage primer. They’re all here, the roadies, fans, dreamers, graveyard shift DJ’s, hapless journalists, vagabond bands, lonesome guitar-slingers, sell-outs and wannabes. Everyone’s chasing Highway 66 but most have lost the map.”
~ Nina Antonia, author of The New York Dolls — Too Much Too Soon and Johnny Thunders - In Cold Blood

“EXPERIENCED has got all the dirty details of behind-the-curtains gossip — written with zest and love. It rocks.”
~ Stephen D. Gutierrez, author of the American Book Award winning Live from Fresno y Los

“The stories in EXPERIENCED not only entertain, but offer insight into the lives of those in the music industry, from label executives to record producers to rock bands to fans at large. It’s not always a life of glamour, but no one ever said rock ‘n’ roll was pretty.”
~ Steve Beck, founder of OnlineRock.com and editor of The Noise Room

“The stories and essays in EXPERIENCED are beautifully written, wise, and absurdly energetic. An amazing jam session of a book.”
~ Michael Kardos, author of One Last Good Time

“The sobering economics of life on the road for a harmonica virtuoso, a journalist’s desperate pursuit of Elastica frontwoman Justine Frischmann, a down-and-out radio talk show host receives a live call from a recent murderess; the tangent is where the real story begins in this raucous, raw-edged compilation limning the seamy underside of rock ‘n’ roll storytelling.”
~ Alina Simone, singer and author of You Must Go and Win

Review & Description

All sharp hooks and hefty beats, We Are Not Alone starts off with the Middle Eastern melody of the roaring lead single "So Cold," a riff-heavy track that showcases the fretwork of guitarist Aaron Fink, an expressive guitarist with a flair for both color and crunch. Employing a palette of quirky pedal effects, distorted textures and throttled power chords, he amplifies the emotion in each song, be it the confrontational rage in "Believe" or the sweeping emotional plea of "Break My Fall." "Aaron really stepped up on this record," says vocalist/guitarist Ben Burnely. "He's not so much a riff guy as someone who creates atmosphere. His talents really shine through here."

The perfectly paced album is anchored by the propelling rhythms of drums and bass as well as being driven by Burnley, who brings each melody to life with a voice that's both graceful ("Rain") and Godzillian ("Away"). He soars over the mile-high chorus of "Follow," delivering the insistent hook with unbridled passion and grit. "Touring helped develop my singing ability and allowed me to try new things on this record," he says. "It gave me a sense of confidence that was really liberating."

The band credit producer David Bendeth for the album's adventurous spirit, saying that he encouraged them to reach higher by digging deeper. "David has a great ear and helped pull better performances out of us," says Fink. "He also added a lot of flavor to the record. Unlike the first album, which was all bass, drums and guitar, this record is filled with all sorts of tasty ear candy. It's definitely headphones-worthy." Read more

Review & Description

Vinyl pressing of Hysteria by Def Leppard. Four years after Pyromania, Def Leppard were a comparative write-off. Dismissed by critics, seemingly dogged by bad luck, with drummer Rick Allen losing an arm in a car accident, Hysteria had to be an album to turn heads. In retrospect, it sounded like the first true Hard Rock record for the CD generation. Ambitious arrangements and remixes on songs such as "Rocket" and "Armaggedon It," a crisp single in "Animal," and a dense paean to love with "Love Bites," all bets were off. Def Leppard had created an intriguing language of ideas that still speaks volumes more than a decade on.Probably Def Leppard's best album, and certainly their most successful, Hysteria pretty much sums up 80s hard rock: catchy, tuneful, and fun. It's also one of the few albums from the period that doesn't sound dated now, and singles like "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Armageddon It", and "Rocket" remain staples of rock radio. The rest of the album is equally entertaining; "Animal" and "Hysteria", while mid-tempo, have the same slick intensity, and "Love Bites" is one of the few pop-metal ballads that doesn't sound saccharine over a decade after its release. Def Leppard may be remembered more for their hair than their music these days, but that's more due to changing tastes than anything else. It's still good. --Genevieve Williams Read more

Mangled Noize (Kindle Edition)

Mangled Noize
Mangled Noize (Kindle Edition)
By Fredrik Williams

Review & Description

Morning came and Frederick woke up sore and bruised. The fight with his father had been intense, but it wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be, at least physically. Emotionally he was floored. What the hell had he done to deserve this life? He’s about to be killed by a street gang, and his parents didn’t even care? Well fine then! But he wasn’t just going to lie there and take it!

After barely escaping from Joey and his gang, Frederick runs away deep into Hollywood. He can’t believe his luck as he runs into a Rock ‘n’ Roll band. He joins the band and leaves the country with them. Just when he thinks he is safe and has found paradise, Frederick suddenly finds himself stranded in a foreign country, all alone at seventeen, with no money, no way to get home, and no home to go home to. He doesn’t know how he will survive!

Please note: Mangled Noize does contain a little bit of violence, a few sexual situations, some drug references, and a few naughty words. It is, therefore, not for children. Everyone else, please enjoy.
