Filmed in their hometown of Edmonton, Alberta, Nickelback prove they can rock just as hard live as on record. Aside from the fact that Live at Home features their biggest hits, like "Leader of Men" (from 2000's The State) and "How You Remind Me" (from 2001's Silver Side Up), the sound quality and production values are topnotch. For the most part, this is a straightforward performance (with the exception of a few pyrotechnics)--something fans have grown to expect from Nickelback--but there are a few surprises. "Where Do I Hide" is an extra-long version, so that lead singer-guitarist Chad Kroeger can jump off the stage (security in tow) to mingle with the crowd; "It Ain't Like That" features a vocal from Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell, who takes the band into a darker, more groove-heavy direction; and "Mistake" is acoustic. Sony/BMG.You pretty much know what to expect from a John Mellencamp album at this point in time, and Cuttin' Heads certainly won't disappoint the Midwest rock troubadour's diehard fans. In fact, Mellencamp's 18th album is arguably his most engaging, and coincidentally timely, since 1989's Big Daddy. "Peaceful World," a beautiful folk-rocker featuring guest vocalist India Arie, takes on a more poignant and ironic tone in light of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Public Enemy's Chuck D contributes a fabulous rap on the opening title track, which, like "Peaceful World," addresses American racism. Elsewhere, Mellencamp offers up typical fare, including several love tunes (Trisha Yearwood duets on "Deep Blue Heart"), the calypso-like "Crazy Island," and a lyric on "Women Seem" that's ornery enough to still merit the Little Bastard nickname he once gave himself. From his seminal beginnings on the R&B chitlin' circuit to his whirlwind international fame, Jimi Hendrix took from all sources musically. The consummate musician, Jimi was looking for any and every opportunity to jam with like-minded musicians, who did not want to be caged by musical categories. Almost by chance, Jimi was involved in two pioneering performances that launched two genres, that would dominate the African-American music scene for multiple decades (1970's—present). These genres are P-Funk and Hip-Hop!

This is not a Jimi Hendrix biography, because that has already been done multiple times. Nobody Cages Me! is told from the perspective of a young African-American male, who had to discover Hendrix on his own. It took the popular wrestler Hulk Hogan to connect the author with Jimi Hendrix. The author's journey to Hendrix is a unique story in of itself.


About the Author
Corey Washington is an Educator/Author/Blogger/Journalist from Augusta, Georgia. He is also the author of Plain Talk volumes 1 and 2 (a two part series designed to promote cultural diversity and awareness). He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Middle Grades Education from Augusta State University. Born in New York City during the twilight of Disco and the dawn of Hip-Hop(1976), the author did not discover Jimi Hendrix until 1997. Since then, he has studied and listened to every Hendrix recording and book that he could get his hands on. He hopes Nobody Cages Me! will get some people to see beyond the parameters of traditional ""White"" and ""Black"" music
